Patch Handling Patterns for ACS and APS

Just as any software, Alfresco Content Services and Alfresco Process Services are fertile grounds for bugs, incomplete / narrow-minded implementations and other sorts of issues. Unfortunately, the approaches to handling patches can be quite diverse among the community, potentially leading to issues around compability or excessive maintenance effort carrying patches over to new Alfresco versions. The increasing heterogeneity between Alfresco products, growing complexity of source code management and, in some cases, limitations in access to reproducible build sources does not provide a basis for community members and customers to standardise on a single, common pattern. In this talk I will discuss patch handling patterns that are currently being used within the community, or that I have been using in customer projects and my own open source modules. Advantages and challenges will be highlighted to enable other community members to chose the best approach for their needs and maybe to optimise their current patch handling patterns.

Apache ManifoldCF Output Connectors

In our days, enterprise digital content is scattered on several independent systems and subsystems, which perform services such as user authentication, document storage, and provide search capabilities. Centralising enterprise data into a single repository is a growing necessity for organisations. Our talk proposes an approach that could be the "silver bullet" that will open a clear path for Enterprise digital content centralisation . In its genesis , Apache ManifoldCF is a crawler that allows you to manage content indexes in your search engines, this was the main goal of the product. We've realised that we could leverage ManifoldCF to also migrate content, and not only indexes, making it a very good migration tool. This talk will focus on 2 new output connectors for Apache ManifoldCF that are being developed by us.
