Moving from Actions and Behaviors to Microservices

For years we've been running custom logic in the same process as Alfresco by writing custom actions and behaviors. Those still work great, but it often makes sense to move custom logic to microservices that respond to events generated by Alfresco. This talk gives you a simple recipe for doing that.

Performance Tools of the Trade

This presentation is for Alfresco administrators that are seeing their servers slowing down, leading to an unbearable experience, and sometimes server crashes. In most cases, there is no need to spend thousands on tools that may not help. There are many ways to tackle those pesky performance problems. Some tools are great, and others fall short. Some can make things worse. What to do? We’ll arm the administrator with the tools to solve those performance problems and monitor your system to keep it running at top speed.

Governance of the Future

With information becoming increasingly dispersed and varied within organizations and the liability from compliance requirements mounting, it has never been more important than now to understand how we architect our platform to support this governance need. We will take a deep dive look at the governance architecture of the future as it spans the breadth of the digital business platform and beyond and how we could orchestrate the governance of artifacts based on legal and security policies across a variety of systems. There are emerging technologies that will influence this direction and we will investigate their application in this governance space and the applications of this new governance future.

Best Practices for DIY Alfresco Security

How do you best secure a new instance of Alfresco during deployment? What can you do to secure your existing Alfresco deployments? The session will start by exploring a number of platform-independent steps for increasing security. Some common mistakes made in deployment will be outlined, and strategies will be identified for avoiding these mistakes. From there, the session will drill down into security recommendations that are specific to Alfresco deployments. Additionally, the session examine some "easy wins" to help comply with the requirements of specific security and compliance frameworks such as PCI DSS and HIPAA. Attendees will leave this session with concrete tactical recommendations for implementation on their Alfresco instances. While this session contains technical material and recommendations, it is accessible to audience members with a range of technical expertise.

Take Control! Custom Stencils in ADF

One helpful feature of Alfresco Process Services (APS) is the implementation of Custom Form Stencils which allows you to enhance user task forms with custom form fields. Basically, you write your own form field templates using AngularJS and HTML, which get rendered inside your form. When creating an ADF frontend for APS, it is not possible to directly integrate your Custom Stencils, which are written in AngularJS. However, you can write your own Angular 2+ components with TypeScript and reference them in your forms. Based on experience creating ADF frontends for APS and migrating Custom Stencils, I will show you live examples how to create and integrate your own components and which possibilities you have. We will also cover pitfalls and how to overcome them.

PostgreSQL Holds the Rhythm of Alfresco Platform

The database is a crucial part of your Alfresco platform. If the database is not in good shape, your Alfresco will not behave well. It's like the drummer in a band. When the tempo is good, you hardly notice the drums and you can focus on the other instruments and the voice. When the drummer is out of tempo, the whole band collapses. Last year, an Alfresco support engineer told us what are the things one should have a look at in the database. His excellent presentation was DB-engine agnostic. This talk is a continuation and PostgreSQL specific. We will review the same concepts but in a concrete manner with code examples, tips & tricks, and we will extend it with cool things that can be done with PostgreSQL, including backups, monitoring, and how to migrate from other database engines.
